Liverpool Pier Head Village will not return for summer 2019 after festival cancelled for 'maintenance'

Liverpool’s summer-long Pier Head Village will not be returning this summer.

Liverpool City Council has confirmed that the popular summer festival, which ran for three years from 2016 to 2018, has been cancelled.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Our contract with the operator for the Pier Head Village came to an end with last year’s event.

“As there are a number of maintenance works that need to take place at the Pier Head over the summer it was decided not to re-tender the opportunity for this year.

“However, Culture Liverpool is already looking at exciting opportunities for the Pier Head for summer 2020.”

Last year, the festival was home to some of the world’s biggest thrill rides, including Air Maxx, No Limits, Top Buzz and the Magic Mouse roller coaster.

Liverpool City Council has revealed that plans are already in the works for an exciting summer in 2020.
