A Liverpool ONE shop had its windows smashed in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police were called to Ernest Jones on South John Street, shortly before 1am, to reports of damage to the windows.
It is not yet clear what happened to cause the damage but workers were seen boarding up the front of the shop on Friday afternoon.
The jewellery shop was closed last month when the government announced that non-essential retail would have to shut for the duration of the latest lockdown.
Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information about the incident.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: "Officers were called to Ernest Jones at around 00:50am this morning (5 Feb) and it was found a window had been smashed.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish what was taken. Anyone with info can contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers with ref. 21000076570."
