Liverpool on verge of Champions League semi-finals but Jurgen Klopp shouldn't play Jordan Henderson or Naby Keita against Porto

You have to take every game as it comes during this title run-in. Virgil Van Dijk has lead from example at the back and Liverpool now need to follow up the Chelsea win against Cardiff City next weekend.

But first off, it’s Porto. It’s funny because we almost forget about the Champions League, but there’s a big job to be done on Wednesday night. If they can get the away goal that should be enough to get the job done, finish them off and book our place in the semi-finals.

I think Wijnaldum will play, I think Fabinho will play and I think Milner will play. I think that will be the midfield. It’s healthy, he can rest Jordan Henderson and Keita in midfield. Wijnaldum’s had a little rest. We’re not stretched in midfield and upfront the three lads are keeping fit. That’s so important.

Joe Gomez is coming back too while Lovren’s also there if we need him. I think Lovren will come back in to give Matip a well-earned rest. He will make changes against Porto and rest a few legs for Cardiff and he’ll do it in the right way.

I was at the Porto away game last year and it was remarkable. You don’t under-estimate them. They did well at Anfield and they’ll create chances at home.

If they get the first goal, they’ll fancy themselves and it’ll be game on. But they have to get three goals and keep us out and that’s where their problem lies.

It has been done before so we can’t take it for granted, we have to defend well. And better than we did in the group games too.

If Liverpool play as well as we did at Bayern Munich then we go through, it’s as simple as that.

Never Forgotten

And a final word on that fateful day 30 years ago. Having been involved, it seems like only yesterday.

It won’t go away, it’ll never go away and it shouldn’t go away. Your heart still goes out to all the families and the people affected. We were all affected. It was good to see it respected on Sunday which is very important. Well done to all the fans.
