Liverpool officially most successful club as Man United trophies compared

Liverpool are now undisputed as the most successful team in English football history.

There has been a fierce battle for sole control over the honour between the Reds and Manchester United with many fans adding or discounting certain competitions to favour their side.

However, after Jurgen Klopp's side claimed the 2019/20 Premier League title - there can now be no debate.

A total of 48 major trophies have made their way back to Anfield.

After the latest championship triumph, Liverpool's haul now consists of 19 league titles, seven FA Cups and eight League Cups on the domestic front.

In addition, there are six European Cups/Champions Leagues, three UEFA Cup/Europa Leagues, four European Super Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup.

In contrast, United have won a total of 45 major trophies.

Their list includes 20 league titles, 12 FA Cups, five League Cups, three European Cups, one European Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Cup/Europa League, one European Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.

Charity or Community Shields are not usually counted on the major trophy list.

While they register as official appearances in the record books, they maintain something of a 'friendly' status having often been shared in the past.
