Liverpool non-league team's stunning gesture to tragic teenager Jack Riding as free heart screenings offered

Prescot Cables have paid a stunning tribute to semi-professional footballer Jack Riding who tragically passed away aged 18 in August 2018.

Riding, a popular member of Cables' reserve team, died after collapsing while playing five-a-side with friends at the Goals complex in Netherton.

Friends initially believed he had fainted - as he had done during the same game one week earlier - but soon realised his condition was more serious.

Since Jack's passing a foundation was created in his name and the paperwork was signed this month to officially register as a charity and help raise awareness of Cardiac Risk In The Young.

The Jack Riding Foundation will also provide free heart screenings to all involved in sport in the Liverpool area aged between 16-35.

In a touching gesture, Prescot's new first-team kit for the season will include the Foundation's logo beneath the club's traditional badge.

It was launched officially as Cables took on Everton under-18's at Victoria Park on Tuesday evening.

Riding represented the Blues as a youngster.
