Liverpool nightclub Gbar opening at one minute past midnight on July 19

A nightclub in Liverpool will open at one minute after midnight this weekend as lockdown restrictions finally come to an end.

Boris Johnson announced that most of the legal coronavirus restrictions brought in during the pandemic will end as of July 19.

With cases rising, certain measures will remain in place, however, all limits on social contact (currently six people or two households indoors, or 30 people outdoors) will be removed and there will be no more restrictions on how many people can meet in any setting, indoors or outdoors.

All settings will be able to open, including nightclubs and one city centre venue has already revealed their plans for the occasion with Gbar set to operate 'as normal' one minute past midnight as the clock ticks into July 19 until 7am.

A statement, sharing their plans on Facebook read: “July 19th lifting of restrictions confirmed. We’re going to be partying from minute one.

"As Monday morning starts at 00:01. Our doors open restrictions free. Come dance, hug, kiss & enjoy life in full for the first time in a very long time! We’ll get the tunes blurring.”

Speaking to 2chill, manager Andrew Pankhurst, explained what people can expect on the night: "It will be like what it used to be, although people have been coming with the restrictions, they haven't been getting the full experience, the Gbar experience.

"It will be all about dancing, loud music and lots of music."

The 37-year-old added: "No seating is required so if I see anyone sitting down, I will personally drag them up to dance myself."

Resident DJ’s Dave Bennet, Andy Locker, and Andy Mac will lead 'Basement Sessions, The First Dance’ as the first official event and the trio will be playing be playing underground grooves with a house focus.

One excited user commented: “That is what I wanted to hear and the best thing I have heard in a long time. See you Monday morning!”

Tickets can be bought here.

Gbar can be found in Liverpool’s Pride Quarter on Eberle Street.

If, unfortunately, you have to work on Monday morning or otherwise can't make the reopening, the venue Bar is opened Friday playing everything pop and disco and Saturday where a more RnB and house sound can be enjoyed.
