Liverpool next six fixtures compared to title rivals Man City and Chelsea

Liverpool are on a fine run of form since returning from the international break and have won their last three matches in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit just two points away from Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League as the busy Christmas period gets underway.

The Reds’ 4-1 hammering of Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday will fill them with confidence to tackle the Christmas period with Wolves up next.

Here, we take a look at Liverpool's next six fixtures in what is certain to be a tricky beginning of the festive period.

Wolves at Molineux

The busy Christmas period is now picking up and Wolves await the Reds just three days after the Merseyside Derby.

Wolves’ new era under Bruno Lage has been one of mixed fortunes, as expected but they currently sit in eighth place after winning three of their last five matches.

Former Wolves man Diogo Jota scored the only goal in this fixture in March as the Reds climbed up to sixth place with the win.

AC Milan at the San Siro

Liverpool’s final group game in the Champions League comes at the historic San Siro as this will be the last time the Reds play in the famous old stadium.

In the opening match of the Champions League group stage, Liverpool and AC Milan played out a fantastic game where the Reds came away with all the points in a 3-2 win at Anfield.

Klopp may give some youngsters the chance to play in this match as nothing will be riding on it for Liverpool and could provide some vital experience.

Aston Villa at Anfield

Liverpool’s next match at Anfield will see the return of a Reds legend as Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa visit Merseyside next.

Gerrard has turned fortunes around at Villa since taking over but he tasted defeat for the first time in the Premier League at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Klopp may use this game for some rotation within the starting XI as the use of his squad will be key in this busy month.

Newcastle at Anfield

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are the only side in the Premier League without a win and that doesn’t look like changing any time soon as they sit bottom of the league.

These are the sort of games that Liverpool won so regularly in the season in which they won the Premier League and that trend has continued so far this season.

Mohamed Salah is leading the charts in terms of scoring and assisting - the Egyptian will be licking his lips looking at this match.

Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham are in better shape than they were a month ago but there is still so much work for Antonio Conte to do as he looks to turn their fortunes around.

Harry Kane’s flirting with Manchester City in the summer has massively disrupted their season and the England captain has not been firing for his side.

Liverpool have won each of their two matches in Spurs’ new ground and will be hoping that continues this month.

Leicester at Anfield (EFL Cup)

The final game before Christmas sees the Reds in League Cup action against former manager Brendan Rodger 's as a place in the semi final is up for grabs.

Liverpool haven’t won this trophy since 2012 and a domestic cup win would go down well with the fans, who admit that is far from the top of the list of priorities for this campaign.

A win here and a Wembley final could well be on the cards for 2022.
