Liverpool and Leicester go head-to-head two days later in the league as the pair get ready to face off twice in the space of six days.
The Reds kick off 2022 with a testing away trip to Stamford Bridge and are then in FA Cup action on January 9 against League One side Shrewsbury Town.
January contests with Brentford and Crystal Palace are expected to take place without Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane, who are set to be taking part in the African Cup of Nations.
