Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are 'very good friends' despite spat at Burnley, says Fabinho

Fabinho insists that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are “very good friends” despite their spat at Burnley.

The Liverpool pair exchanged heated words after Mane was aggrieved by Salah’s decision not to pass him the ball during the 3-0 win in August.

That led some to suggest the two were feuding off the field, but Fabinho has clarified that the two are friends, and the incident is firmly behind them.

“The day after [the game] they joke in the dressing room, they speak normally and they are very good friends,” Fabinho told The Straits Times.

“In the moment of the game all players are a little bit hot; it’s not the first time and it won’t be the last.”

Fabinho’s Brazil played Mane’s Senegal on Thursday.

Mane won his side a penalty, with Famara Diedhiou converting from the spot to secure a 1-1 draw.

Fabinho, not used in the fixture, counts fellow Reds Roberto Firmino and Alisson among his international team mates, and admitted the trio and Mane had exchanged some gentle teasing about the game.

“We joked a little bit about it, Sadio said he’s going to score against us!” Fabinho said.
