Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp seeks midfield solution as academy prospect praised

Liverpool youngster Mateusz Musialowski has been praised by another one of his Liverpool teammates.

The academy player, who has been dubbed "the Polish Messi", is said to have left Reds boss Jurgen Klopp shouting “well done” after nutmegging Fabinho in training – and now Virgil van Dijk has also been left in awe at this talent.

It comes as Klopp desperately seeks a solution to his problems in midfield with just a week of the January transfer window left.

And questions have been raised about Sadio Mane's treatment at the Africa Cup of Nations after he suffered a concussion scare following a heavy collision with Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, but remained on the pitch to net the game's opening goal.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Liverpool headlines.

Now, Luke Griggs, deputy chief executive of brain injury association Headway, says Mane should have been shown more care.

Klopp seeks midfield solution

Liverpool's midfield has struggled at times this season – and Jurgen Klopp has less than a week to bring in a new option to help put things right.

Despite being blessed wit an abundance of talent in the centre of the park, Liverpool's midfielders have been extremely goal-shy this term and have been hit by injuries and Covid.

Georginio Wijnaldum has yet to be properly replaced and the Reds continue to be linked with Borussia Monchengladbach's Denis Zakaria.

With the club about to enter the business end of the season, Klopp knows the next few days could be vital in determining how strongly his side finishes.
