Liverpool news: Jordan Henderson and Jurgen Klopp in touchline row after handshake snub

Jordan Henderson appeared to snubb Jurgen Klopp‘s handshake during Liverpool’s stalemate with Manchester United on Sunday.

The England international was withdrawn after 72 minutes, as Klopp brought on Xherdan Shaqiri to chase a winning goal, but Henderson appeared to walk straight past the manager’s outstretched hand.

The German then called Henderson back to the technical area and appeared to say “you didn’t shake my hand”.

Henderson then accepted the gesture, but the pair seemed to have a heated argument before the 28-year-old pulled away and marched back to his seat, still looking somewhat incensed.

The game itself was stunted by injuries in the first half, with Roberto Firmino limping off after rolling his ankle.

Meanwhile United were forced to make all three of their susbtitutions before the break, with Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard all coming off injured.

Klopp’s side played with unfamiliar caution at Old Trafford and never quite managed to regain their rhythm after Firmino’s departure, with United coming closest to breaking the deadlock when Joel Matip’s own goal was ruled out for offside.

The draw was enough to take Liverpool back to the top of the league, though, one point clear of Manchester City, with 11 games to go of the season.
