Liverpool name 24-man Champions League squad including Harvey Elliott and Divock Origi

Liverpool have named their squad for the Champions League group stages with both Harvey Elliott and Divock Origi included.

The Reds were handed a tough draw against reigning Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, Italian giants AC Milan and familiar opponents FC Porto.

Jurgen Klopp's men kick off their Champions League campaign against Milan on September 15 at Anfield, with Hernan Crespo asking his former side to get revenge for the 2005 final in Istanbul.

Due to home grown player requirements, Liverpool have only able to name 24 players in their squad for the group stages.

Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian are named as the three goalkeepers with Loris Karius unsurprisingly omitted despite failing to secure a transfer away from the club in the summer window.

There is no surprises in defence with Ibrahima Konate included as well as the regular members of Liverpool's defence. Nat Phillips was not included in the group stage squad last season but earns his place after signing a new contract.

Harvey Elliott is named in the A-list squad as he does not qualify as a home grown player. The youngster has bolstered Liverpool's options in midfield and made an impressive start to the season after returning from his loan at Blackburn.

Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino are both named despite handing Klopp an injury headache. Divock Origi is also included which seemingly puts an end to the speculation he could leave the club in the coming days.

The Belgian has been linked with a move to Fenerbache with the Turkish transfer window not closing until next week but given the UEFA registration window has now passed, any move seems unlikely.

Liverpool's squad will also be bolstered by B list eligible youth players including Curtis Jones and Neco Williams.
