Liverpool mum asks if it's a scouse thing to get the kids new Easter clothes - and this is the verdict

For many kids Easter is all about how many chocolate eggs they get - but children in Liverpool usually expect another treat.

Over the years it’s become the norm for scouse kids to get a new outfit to wear on Easter Sunday - but this isn’t generally the case elsewhere.

One local mum highlighted the fact in a local parenting group, posting: “ Easter clothes! As a rule we had new clothes for the holidays, it was the rule! My hubby said he didn’t, so is this a Liverpool thing?”

Many people then replied confirming her theory. One said: “We always grew up with a new outfit, shoes and n pjs for Easter. Spoke to people down south n they don’t do it. Think it is a Scouse rule.”

Another mum added: “Yes I think it’s a scouse thing. Mine always have new outfits for Easter and bank holiday Monday!”

And someone else said: “We had this discussion in work today. We also had Easter clothes and my little boy got new outfit for today too. I think it's a scouse thing.”

People who grew up elsewhere also seem to believe it’s a Liverpool tradition.

One women said: “I’m from Blackpool & definitely wasn't a thing there!”

Another added: “I’m a southerner, I def think it’s a Scouse thing!”

And one women said: “My hubby is from Yorkshire and it’s not a thing there. Easter clothes are a what you get. It’s like new pjs for Christmas Eve”.

So it seems pretty clear that getting new Easter clothes is a Liverpool tradition. Agree or disagree? Take our poll:
