Reds braced for deadline day exits
Several Liverpool players could be on the move before today’s 5pm domestic transfer deadline, writes the ECHO’s Chief Liverpool writer Ian Doyle .
The Reds are not expected to sign anyone but may look to send some young players out on loan to gain first-team experience.
Harry Wilson will be among the departures, with the Welshman set for a loan switch to Cardiff City.
Nat Phillips could also be headed for the exit with Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Bristol City linked, while Ben Woodburn could leave on loan.
Liam Millar and Yasser Larouci are also tipped for an exit, while Sepp van den Berg has been made available for loan.
Herbie Kane is poised to join Barnsley in a permanent deal.
Players must forget about Alisson’s absence - Barnes
Liverpool must not allow Alisson Becker’s absence to impact their progress, says club legend John Barnes.
The Brazilian keeper is expected to miss the next month as he recovers from a shoulder injury.
His stand-in, Adrian, made a costly error last time out during the crushing 7-2 defeat by Aston Villa.
But Barnes has told Jurgen Klopp’s players to embrace Adrian’s presence between the sticks ahead of Saturday’s derby clash with Everton.
“The fact he’s not there, it doesn’t mean Adrian isn’t a bad goalkeeper. It just means the defence aren’t as secure playing in front of Adrian compared to Alisson,” Barnes told the ECHO .
“Look at when Joe Gomez or Joel Matip have played alongside Virgil van Dijk. They are often much better than when they were alongside Dejan Lovren. Gomez or Matip are still the same player, but they feel more comfortable around a better player.
“That is something Jurgen Klopp will be telling his players – to forget about the fact Alisson isn’t there because they just have to get on with it.”
Klopp the most important arrival under FSG - Redknapp
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Klopp has been the most important signing during the FSG era.
The Reds have made excellent moves in the transfer market during FSG’s 10-year tenure, with Luis Suarez, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk just three examples.
However, Redknapp believes no signing comes close to matching the impact of Klopp, who earlier this month celebrated five years as Liverpool boss.
“The most important signing by FSG has been Jurgen Klopp,” said Redknapp , now a pundit for Sky Sports.

“He has changed everything. He has given Liverpool a direction and belief, and he’s a good a manager as any – everybody would want to play for Jurgen Klopp.
“I’d imagine it was like this during the Bill Shankly days. Liverpool fans identify in Klopp and have a bond with him that is almost unique in the modern game.
“He’s the best move FSG have made.”
