Klopp urges fans to ‘stay home’
Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool fans to celebrate any Premier League successes by staying at home and proving why they are the best fanbase in the world.
The Premier League looks set to restart on June 17 and is set to be played to a conclusion, but there have been suggestions that Liverpool’s remaining home games will be played away from Anfield.
There are fears that Reds supporters could congregate outside Anfield to celebrate a first title success in three decades, but has Klopp pleaded with his side's fans from doing so.
"The situation will change our celebrations obviously as well but the stadium, we didn't hear that yet," Klopp told The Keys & Gary Show on beIN SPORTS, via the ECHO.
"I heard that there is still talk about it, I’m pretty sure that we can solve the situation here as well in Liverpool.
"I heard a day ago a really good phrase about that we have the best home fans in the world, and now we need the best stay at home fans in the world. That's how it is.
"We waited a while for this situation and it’s not done yet. If we had not stopped the league, or it would not have happened, the silly null and void stuff, then it was clear we were already champions.
"We wanted to play anyway and now we are really desperate to play because we want to become champions on the pitch that looks like that we can do that.”
Werner decides on future?
Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has hinted that RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has already made a decision on his future
The German international has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer and is believed to have a £52million release clause in his contract.
"Timo Werner will not come to Inter. I know his thoughts about his future and we’ll not sign him," Ausilio told Sky Sport, via the ECHO.
"I love him as a player but we’ve never started talks to sign him."
However, the ECHO understands that the Reds have not opened any discussions with the 24-year-old over a possible move this summer.
Crouch admits Liverpool/United player rivalry
Peter Crouch has spoken of the "hatred" that existed in the fixtures he played for Liverpool in against Manchester United.
The former striker spoke of an intensity around the game, which is widely regarded as one of the biggest rivalries in world football.
Crouch admitted that whilst there was respect between the players on both sides, they never really get on due to the rivalry between the two clubs.
"I’ve never played in a fixture that had such hatred around it, John," Crouch wrote in the Daily Mail.
"I was on the bench the day Gary Neville ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of Liverpool’s fans in January 2006 and the depth of feeling in the stadium was incredible.
"It was the same at Anfield the following month when I scored to knock United out The FA Cup.
"It was never openly hostile in the tunnel but you could feel the tension as soon as you got to the stadium.
"We knew the players from England, of course, and there was never anything but respect from Gary, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney to Stevie Gerrard, Carra and myself.
"You could never really get on with them, though. There is a picture of me going up for a challenge with Rio Ferdinand and I’ve got my fist clenched - it looks like I’m trying to lamp him!
"It was so intense and, as the years have gone by, I believe that intensity has faded from the fixture."
