Liverpool morning headlines as Reds 'expected' to sign Erling Haaland and new Mane unearthed

Here are your Liverpool morning headlines for Tuesday 3 November.

Jota justifies Mane comparisons

Liverpool paid up to £45million for Diogo Jota this summer and the investment has been justified thus far.

Indeed, as argued by the ECHO , comparisons with Sadio Mane - both in terms of transfer fee, playing style and impact - are clear.

The Portuguese forward has netted decisive goals in the wins over Sheffield United and West Ham, and is now competing for a regular starting spot.

It appears Jota has taken his game to another level at Anfield and the challenge now is to maintain that consistency throughout the season and continue to improve.

Haaland tipped for Anfield

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland will eventually join Liverpool, according to Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Cristoph Freund.

The Norwegian goalscoring sensation has netted 24 goals in 27 Dortmund appearances since a January switch from the Austrian club.

The 20-year-old appears set for a long future at the top level of football and he has now been tipped for a future move to the Reds.

Freund said, in relation to Lothaur Matthaus saying Haaland would move to Anfield, as per the ECHO : “He will land there.

“He can play for any club in the world. With his mentality, his will and self-confidence, he will be able to make a mark on European football in the next ten years."

Pogba highlights key difference between sides

Paul Pogba’s struggles at Manchester United highlight the key differences between his side’s midfield and that of Liverpool, write the ECHO .

The five Liverpool midfielders who appeared against West Ham on Saturday cost a combined total of £54million. Pogba’s transfer alone cost a whopping £89million in 2016.

Liverpool’s transfer policy has been one of harmony between Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards, with agreement between the club and coaching staff of what players should be identified to fix the team’s needs.

It has served Liverpool well as United continue to flounder.
