Here are your Liverpool morning headlines for Thursday, 24 September.
Lincoln clash set to give major transfer hint
There’s less than two weeks to go until the transfer window closes, and there’s still business to be done for Liverpool.
There’s little suggestion any more new arrivals will follow Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas but there remains a question of whether fringe players will be sold to recoup the £70million outlay.
Rhian Brewster and Harry Wilson are two of the names that have been heavily tipped to leave Anfield this summer, with Crystal Palace and Burnley said to be interested.
Their involvement, or lack of, in tonight’s League Cup clash against League One Lincoln will provide a major hint of who Jurgen Klopp considers in his first-team plans for this season. If Wilson and Brewster aren’t in the squad, sales could well be imminent.
Marcus Rashford puts club rivalry aside to send powerful message
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has continued to speak out about the issue of child poverty in Britain, stating he campaigns for the people of Liverpool as much as anywhere else.
The 22-year-old England international took to social media to share a letter he received from London mayor Sadiq Khan, a Liverpool fan.
"I do what I do for Liverpool as much as anywhere,” wrote Rashford.
"Children all over the UK are crying out for our help. This is much bigger than me, than football, than politics.
"It’s time we all started listening, instead of clouding our views with allegiances and rivalries."
Here’s the story , including Khan’s letter in full.
Gary Neville backs Liverpool after Thiago signing
Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville has already changed his pre-season prediction following Liverpool’s signing of Thiago Alcantara.
Earlier in the month the former Manchester United right-back predicted - with a large degree of hope and optimism - that the Red Devils could finish ahead of Klopp’s champions in the top four this season.
“I’m going to go Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, but that’s with a little bit of hope rather than science!” Neville told Stadium Astro when asked for his top four prediction.
But he’s since contrasted how the two clubs have conducted their transfer business this summer, and appeared to backtrack on his earlier prediction.
“There is no excuse really for not getting your transfers done before the start of the season. They need four or five players, so to only get one done… I know Liverpool have only got theirs done in the last couple of days, but there is a feeling they are in control.”
