Klopp issues transfer warning

Jurgen Klopp has given an interview to ServusTV , in which he explained how Liverpool ' s financial position and transfer strategy has been affected by the coronavirus crisis.

And with the Reds yet to make an approach to Bayern Munich regarding Thiago Alcantara, the manager’s words will have fans wondering if there whether a deal can be completed.

“Now, in corona times, you have to think five times before making a transfer because nobody knows what will happen after corona,” he said. "We always have to pay attention to the financial aspect. Because we don't know exactly how much money we will have available.”

Reds undecided on young goalkeeper

There’s no question that Liverpool are happy with their first choice goalkeeper. Alisson Becker is widely regarded as one of the best in the world, and his form with the Reds fully justifies that position.

He has an able deputy in the form of Adrian too, with Liverpool winning all 11 league games in which the Spaniard played during their title-winning campaign.

Yet in the younger age groups, things are not so clear. Daniel Atherton, Shamal George and Kai McKenzie-Lyle have all been released this summer, and the club are mulling over whether to offer Javi Cendon a contract.

The 19-year-old, who recently left Villarreal on a free transfer, spent the last two weeks with Liverpool at their training camp in Austria, but his future remains unclear.

Liverpool’s transfer plans assessed

At this time of year, nothing gets fans more excited than the potential for their club to make new signings.

ECHO Reds reporter Paul Gorst hosted a Q&A yesterday, with the vast majority of the questions related to transfers, be that regarding a new centre-back to replace Dejan Lovren, through to exciting but unlikely moves for Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
