Liverpool morning headlines as Jurgen Klopp faces Diogo Jota decision ahead of Man City tussle

Here are your Liverpool morning headlines for Sunday, November 8.

Klopp was ‘unsure’ how to approach post-title City visit

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he had ‘no idea’ how to prepare for his side’s last visit to Manchester City.

The Reds suffered a 4-0 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s side just days after being confirmed as Premier League champions.

And Klopp says that result is an example of how a lack of focus can be costly against a side of City’s quality.

"If you are not 100 per cent focused on the game against Manchester City, you will lose big!" said Klopp ahead of today’s clash between the sides at the Etihad.

"I am not sure I needed that game as proof but that is 100 per cent the case. It's the first time we won the league in England, so I had no idea how to prepare for the next game, actually.

"I didn't want to overdo it and say 'boys, forget it, whatever happened three days ago, forget it' and all these kinds of things.

"I didn't do that. I am not sure if that was right or wrong. I know my boys wanted to win that game but we were not as focused as we usually are.”

Three ways Klopp can use Jota to hurt City

There are three notable ways in which Klopp can use in-form forward Diogo Jota to punish Manchester City, according to the ECHO’s Sean Bradbury .

Jota has been in devastating form since his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers with his Champions League hat-trick against Atalanta taking his tally to seven goals in 10 games.

One option for Klopp is to deploy a 4-2-3-1 in order to get Mohamed Salah , Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Jota on the pitch at the same time.

Alternatively, the German could stick with the 4-3-3 that worked so well against Atalanta with Jota supported out wide by Mane and Salah.

The third possibility is a plan to use Jota as an impact substitute late on as the Portugal international possesses the pace and intelligence to stretch a tiring City backline.

With three more precious points on the line, it will be interesting to see how Klopp integrates Jota into his plan to take down City.

Elliott notches impressive assist for Blackburn

Liverpool fans have praised the club’s decision to send Harvey Elliott out on loan after the teenager’s latest assist for Blackburn Rovers .

Elliott, 17, created Adam Armstrong’s first goal in Rovers’ 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, his third assist since arriving at Ewood Park.

And Elliott’s latest showing for Tony Mowbray’s side did not go unnoticed by Liverpool fans who are delighted to see the former Fulham youngster thriving during his spell in the Championship.
