Liverpool might have found their most famous fan yet

Liverpool can add Superman after a recent comic revealed the superhero's affection for the Premier League champions.

Doomsday Clock is a superhero comic book published by DC Comics and is a direct sequel to the graphic novel Watchmen, which was recently successfully adapted into a hit limited TV series on HBO.

Garry Frank is the artist and it seems he has included a nod to Liverpool FC in his recent work, making Superman officially a fan of Jurgen Klopp's side.

In the graphic novel, Superman is talking as Lois Lane appears to watch from home live on TV. One panel shows the Daily Planet reporter holding a mug that clearly shows a Liver Bird design on its front. The letter 'L' can also be seen and although her fingers cover the rest, it definitely reads 'LFC'.

Paul Machin from The Red Men TV spotted the reference, posted an image of the comic and tweeted the artist asking: "Just noticed a sneaky LFC mug in Doomsday Clock.

"The big question is, who is the Liverpool fan? Lois Lane, Superman or @1moreGaryFrank?"

Artist Garry Frank replied: "Why not all three?"

So it seems Superman can now be added to an already long list of famous Liverpool fans.

These include a ward-winning British actor Noel Clarke who recently revealed he's supported the Reds for decades despite not often publicly posting about it.

He even had to respond to claims he was a 'glory hunter' following his team's Premier League title victory.

He said: "These idiots giving 10 year old me a hard time for glory hunting because of the pic I posted in my @LFC kit 34 years ago." Clarke said.

"Like we won the title and with all my council estate riches mum ran out, bought the kit that day and took a pic LOL. I'd been supporting since 5 yrs old"

And it's not the first time LFC have been given support from the world of superheroes either, after the directors of films like Captain America: Civil  War as well as both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame pledged their loyalty ahead of the Champions League final last year.

The Russo brothers tweeted: "Let's keep the magic going" mentioning Liverpool FC's official twitter account and included the hashtag #WhateverItTakes - a quote many fans of the film Endgame recognised.

It was accompanied by artwork created by Boss Logic, that portrayed Tony Stark in his Iron Man outfit with a Liverpool kit on top.

The Reds are certainly not short on 'super' fans.
