Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson has agreed a season-long loan move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
A number of clubs had courted Clarkson with the Reds having been prepared to release the 19-year-old on a temporary basis to continue his development.
And the Clitheroe-born teenager will now spend the campaign at Blackburn, the club he has supported since childhood.
Harvey Elliott prospered on loan at Ewood Park last season and Liverpool were impressed with the manner in which Blackburn worked with and helped progress the youngster.
Clarkson has made three appearances for the Reds' first team, making his debut as a substitute in the League Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa in December 2019.
He played the full 90 minutes of the FA Cup fourth round replay win over Shrewsbury Town two months later, and started the Champions League group game at FC Midtjylland last December.
Clarkson was also on the bench for three Premier League games last season.
