Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic targeted as transfer clearout continues

Borussia Moenchengladbach want to sign Marjo Grujic as Liverpool look to further prune their squad.

The Bundesliga side have been in talks with the Reds over the midfielder, who spent the last two seasons in Germany on loan with Hertha Berlin.

Liverpool, though, will not entertain another temporary switch for Grujic, and have set an asking price of £20million for a permanent departure.

Moenchengladbach aren't the only team tracking the Serbia international, who has attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Among those is Hertha Berlin, with whom he scored nine goals in 54 appearances over his two spells.

Grujic was Jurgen Klopp's first signing as Liverpool manager in January 2016 when a £5.1m transfer from Red Star Belgrade was agreed.

However, the 24-year-old hasn't made a competitive appearance for the Reds since December 2017 and has played just 52 minutes in the Premier League, although he was on the bench for the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal last month.

Liverpool confirmed on Saturday the departure of Ki-Jana Hoever to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal that could ultimately be worth £13.5m.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United have held talks about signing Rhian Brewster, with Liverpool valuing the youngster at around £20m.

Elsewhere, Harry Wilson, Nat Phillips, Yasser Larouci and Loris Karius will also be allowed to leave during this transfer window for the right price.
