Liverpool midfielder confirms Manchester United transfer after rejecting contract

Ethan Ennis has confirmed his move to Manchester United after leaving Liverpool Academy this summer.

Earlier this month, the ECHO revealed that the 16-year-old was in talks with both the Red Devils and Chelsea after rejecting a scholarship offer from the Reds.

And he has now revealed that he has agreed a deal with Liverpool's bitter rivals United in a social media post accompanied by pictures from Old Trafford.

The caption read: "I am delighted to announce that I have signed for Manchester United. Grateful for this opportunity, can't wait to get started."

Liverpool are now owed a development fee for Ennis, which may be decided by a tribunal should the two clubs fail to reach an agreement.

The loss of a player who scored three goals during the Reds' run to the FA Youth Cup final last term is sure to be considered a blow.

However, Liverpool have had more success in tying down a number of other scholars, including Kaide Gordon, Stefan Bajdcetic and Callum Scanlon.

Gordon, 16, is already making waves at first-team level, having impressed across two pre-season friendly appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side.
