Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recalled to England squad for Euro 2020 qualifiers

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been recalled to the England squad by manager Gareth Southgate.

The 26-year-old will be in the Three Lions party to face Bulgaria and Kosovo in the Euro 2020 group stage qualifiers set to take place next month.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who last featured for his nation in March 2018 in a friendly against Italy, joins Liverpool team-mates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez in being called up to the 25-man squad.

Following his recovery from the long-term injury which saw him sidelined for 12 months, the Champions League winner recently put pen to paper on a contract extension which will keep him at Anfield until 2023.

In his press conference the England boss admitted Oxlade-Chamberlain would have played a key role in the 2018 World Cup.

Southgate confirmed: "I think we’ve been quite clear in that he would have been in starting XI for the World Cup had he been fit."

England welcome Bulgaria to Wembley on September 7 before taking on Kosovo at Southampton's St Mary's Stadium three days later.
