Liverpool met with banner and x-rated chants at European Super League protest before Leeds

A huge anti-European Super League banner awaits Liverpool when they visit Leeds United in the Premier League on Monday.

Inside the stadium, the Whites have installed a banner reading: "EARN IT ON THE PITCH. FOOTBALL IS FOR THE FANS."

It comes in response to widespread anger at the Reds' involvement in backing a breakaway European Super League with 11 other elite clubs in Europe, including the top flight's so-called 'big six'.

Under the plans, an initial twelve of European football’s biggest clubs have joined forces to form a money spinning new Super League - including Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham.

The competition would see a founding 15 teams locked into the competition every season and five qualifying places allotted to other sides.

There has been widespread condemnation from supporters across the board, including from each participating club, and rival fans who would previously have agreed on very little have found something to bring them together.

And now, fans have gathered outside Elland Road to protest the plans.

Warning: video contains some strong language.

It appears that members of both fanbases have gathered to meet their teams as they arrive at the ground in order to make their feelings known about the proposed ESL.

Fans sang ‘f*** the Super League’ and ‘six greedy bastards' outside of the stadium.

And there were 'boos and chants of scum' apparently heard as the team coach arrived at the ground.

A plane will also fly a banner over the stadium at kick off.
