Liverpool Met Office Storm Jorge weather forecast says Merseyside to be battered by more high winds

Merseyside is set to be battered by high winds again on Sunday, as the region is hit by another storm.

Strong winds are sweeping across the country following heavy rain brought by Stom Jorge.

The Met Office has put out a yellow weather warning, and cautioned that winds of up to 70mph could be on their way for some parts of the country, including the M4.

For Merseyside, forecasters said the strong winds won't last all day though.

The Met Office said Sunday's weather will be: "A dry and cloudy morning with some sunny spells and scattered showers in the afternoon, the showers wintry over higher ground. Strong winds to start but these easing later. Maximum temperature 7 °C."

And these breezy conditions will spread into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Forecasters added: "Breezy conditions on Monday and Tuesday with sunny spells and scattered, at times wintry, showers.

"A drier, albeit cloudier day Wednesday with the odd shower and winds easing."

More than 3,300 properties in England are thought to have been flooded as a result of the combined effects of storms Ciara and Dennis, the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs said.

But the department said the figure, which includes homes and businesses, is only an estimate as gathering reliable and up-to-date data was difficult.

Ciara swept across the UK on Sunday February 9 while Dennis came over the following weekend on February 15 and 16, the Met Office said.

On Tuesday, Welsh Government minister Lesley Griffiths said local authorities in Wales had confirmed more than 1,000 homes had flooded, with reports of more than 300 businesses also affected over the previous two weeks.
