Liverpool mayor makes Everton stadium statement as Dominic Calvert-Lewin boost emerges

Everton have released the latest batch of photos from their Finch Farm training, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting back up to speed.

The Toffees frontman is yet to kick a ball in competitive football this season after picking up a ‘freak’ injury days before the opening weekend clash against Chelsea, but Blues boss Frank Lampard confirmed prior to last weekend’s Merseyside derby that he hopes to have his leading man back sooner rather than later.

The 25-year-old’s return to training will be the main positive takeaway from the training snaps but there was plenty more to delve into, including a newly-discovered midfield double act and smiles all round for Lampard and Anthony Gordon.

Liverpool mayor hails new stadium

Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson has described Everton’s new Bramley-Moore dock home as ‘more than just a stadium project’ during a Wednesday visit to learn more about the development.

The Mayor and her cabinet were given a VIP tour of the ground by the club’s Chief Executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale and Chief Stadium Development Officer Colin Chong, experiencing the 13,000-capacity South Stand and learning more about the economic and public benefits the development will offer upon completion.

Anderson said: “Clearly this is more than just a stadium project; it is a significant regeneration project that will act as a catalyst for further high-quality developments as well as boosting the economy, creating jobs and opportunities for local people and businesses and helping breathe new life into one of our most historic communities.”
