Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson will not be fit for the European Super Cup final on Wednesday, according to his manager Jurgen Klopp.
Chelsea face the reds in the competition that sees the winners of the two major European competitions go head to head to fight for the first piece of European silverware on offer this season.
The game comes after the first round of Premier League fixtures, with the Reds kicking off the campaign by registering a 4-1 victory over newly promoted Norwich City on Friday evening.
While Liverpool fans would have been happy with the performance and scoreline, there was one thing that put a downer on the match for them.
2018/19 golden glove winner Alisson was forced from the field of play in the first half after going down with a calf injury.
Following the game at Anfield, Klopp gave a fitness update on his number one.
"It's a calf injury. He felt as if something hit him from the back he won't be ready for Wednesday, I can say that already," the German told the press after the game.
"It's not good but we will find a solution. He felt his calf. He looked behind him as he thought something hit him.
Liverpool's first choice goalkeeper was replaced by former West Ham stopper Adrian, who was only signed by the Reds on Monday.
"Adrian is a good goalie, calm and a good shot-stopper," Klopp added. "It's good for him but we have a little problem with Ali."
