Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp makes bizarre Man City fixture claim

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed he "doesn't even know" when Manchester City play as his team look to close the gap on the Premier League leaders.

Liverpool's involvement in the Carabao Cup final last weekend - which they won - coupled with City's hard-fought win over Everton saw a six-point gap re-open between the two teams. Six days on and Liverpool played ahead of City, hosting West Ham, before City welcome Manchester United to Old Trafford in Sunday's derby.

The two English juggernauts will lock horns in April in a huge title clash. As has been the case in recent seasons between the two North West clubs, each dropped point could be crucial in the respect of the destination of the championship.

Speaking ahead of their clash against West Ham, Klopp said: "No [whether he's thinking about putting pressure on Man City]. It's the truth, I wouldn't even know when City is playing to be honest, we didn't think about it.

"We were completely here in preparation for this game. We have to win these days, especially this game we will see. If we do that and win football matches then we can put pressure on, without winning football games, no.

"I told your colleagues in the press conference yesterday, I really want to win this game today and if we lose this game everyone will be asking me 'is the title race over?' Sometimes your job is really easy, we just have to throw everything we have in the next game and that's West Ham."
