Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms full extent of Mohamed Salah injury

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed the full extent of Mohamed Salah's injury.

The forward was not named in the Liverpool squad for today's Premier League clash against with Manchester United, as he continues to recover from the ankle injury he sustained before the international break.

But Klopp, speaking ahead of the game, has confirmed that Salah could be back in contention for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Genk.

“Mo was not ready, that’s how it is,” the German told Sky Sports pre-match.

“He couldn’t train with the team; I don’t know where it came from that everybody said he will play.

"There was pretty much no chance for today, maybe for Wednesday, we have to see.”

The Egyptian hobbled off in the 92nd minute of his side's 2-1 win over Leicester after a rash challenge from Hamza Choudhury.

Klopp was furious with the Foxes midfielder - who only picked up a yellow card for the tackle - with the German making his feelings know afterwards.

"It’s a challenge which I really don’t understand ... it’s dangerous as hell," Klopp said in his post-match press conference.

"He is a player who is at full sprint, to bring him down without the ball around, for me it (card) is only one colour.

"I don’t want to cause the boy any problems but he has to calm down in situations like that. It’s not the first time. He has to calm down.

"He’s a super player, super development in the last one or two years at Leicester, but these kind of challenges, no. I don’t know how that can not be red."
