Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms extent of Jordan Henderson's knee injury

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Midfielder Henderson was forced to limp out of the Reds' Premier League victory over Brighton on Wednesday night.

Henderson collided with Yves Bissouma in the 80th minute of the 3-1 win at the AMEX Stadium.

And manager Klopp has given mixed news about Henderson, as he admitted the England international won't feature again this season although it isn't as serious as first thought.

"It's the best possible of all the bad news - but he will not play again this season," Klopp said.

"I'm pretty positive he will start the new season with us.

"He's a quick healer and he will be back soon.

"We all felt for him, an awful moment. We knew immediately. Hendo is an animal he fights for everything.

"He deals well with pain but in this moment, he knew something had happened. It was a complete mood killer."

However, Henderson will still lift the Premier League trophy, when the Reds are presented with their first league crown for 30 years at the end of the season.

"It was an awful moment when he went down with injury," Klopp added.

"You saw he knew something happened which shouldn't have happened.

"It was a real mood killer. He deserves to lift the trophy and he will lift the trophy."

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah is in the race for a third successive Golden Boot.

And Klopp lavished praise on his Egyptian winger.

The German said: "It's incredible, we wouldn't be where we are without this. His numbers are crazy! Involved in 100 goals since we've been here, just outstanding, world-class numbers. No-one should be surprised anymore. We know that is special.

"I hope the boys [aren't passing to him just for that]. I saw the replays back and Bobby was not in the best position for the shot and Mo was in a better place. I don't think he did for the Golden Boot. You cannot have that mindset. We all help."
