Liverpool man airlifted to hospital after early morning stabbing

A 29-year-old Liverpool man has been airlifted to hospital after he was stabbed during an incident in Cumbria.

The emergency services were called out to Pennine Close in Silloth at around 10.30am today following reports of a stabbing.

The man was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Police have confirmed he suffered "serious injures."

A Cumbria police spokesman said today: "Emergency services are currently in the area of Pennine Close, Silloth.

"Officers were called at around 10:30am today to the report of a man with a stab wound in the area.

"A 29-year-old man from Liverpool was air lifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle with serious injuries.

"Officers are currently in the area whilst investigations continue."
