Liverpool make three additions to FIFA Club World Cup squad

Liverpool have added Sepp van den Berg, Ki-Jana Hoever and Harvey Elliott to their squad list for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The trio will play for the Reds in the Carabao Cup at Aston Villa on Tuesday night before flying to Qatar for a final or third-place play-off next weekend.

The Reds had initially named a squad of 23 with the injured Dejan Lovren and youngsters Harvey Elliott and Rhian Brewster then dropping out .

Now, though, Elliott has been reinstated alongside the two teenage defenders, with Lovren and Joel Matip both out injured. Rhian Brewster, however, will be staying on Merseyside and will need to be assessed for an ankle knock, which could make him a doubt for the game at Villa Park.

Liverpool will face Monterrey on Wednesday night in Qatar before playing one of Flamengo or Al-Hilal at the weekend as they look to win a first Club World Cup in their history.
