Where will Thiago Alcantara end up this summer?
Bayern Munich have openly admitted they are looking to sell the midfielder this summer, with the 29-year-old about to enter the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.
The German giants do not want to lose him on a free transfer and are welcoming offers for his services.
Chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “We had serious negotiations with him and fulfilled all of his wishes. But it looks like he might want to do something new again at the end of his career.
“We have never had any contact with Liverpool. If he wants to do that, we have to deal with it.
“We don’t want to lose a player for free next year. I say that very clearly."
Liverpool are the team who have been most strongly linked, although Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all also thought to be interested in him.
But Sport Bild claim that Liverpool have made a decision on Thiago, with Jurgen Klopp unwilling to go any higher than £18million for the midfielder with just one year left on his current Bayern deal.
Bayern are looking for a fee in the region of £36million, although other reports have suggested they could accept a bid of £30million.
That Liverpool decision will open the door to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United to make a move.
They will have to act quickly though, with Bayern keen to get a permanent move sorted in order to prepare for the new season.
