Liverpool make key decision on Leeds United and Rangers loan target - reports

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has thrown a spanner into the works of Marcelo Bielsa's plans for Leeds United by blocking a loan swoop for Ryan Kent.

The young forward impressed on loan with Rangers last season and Leeds were keen on providing him Championship experience, while Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was also looking to resign the talent.

However, the Mirror reports that Klopp has rejected the approaches for Kent as he will be heavily involved in the club's pre-season campaign, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino unavailable.

Liverpool's first-choice forward trio are yet to return for pre-season due to their international commitments this summer, with Firmino securing Copa America glory and Sadio Mane preparing for the African Cup of Nations semi-finals.

As a result, 22-year-old Kent will be a key player in pre-season and is set to feature against Tranmere Rovers this evening, while he will also be in the squad for Sunday's match against Bradford City and will travel to the club's tour of the United States.

Kent has spent the last four seasons on loan away from Anfield, spending time with Coventry, Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City before moving to Rangers last season.

He won the Scottish club's Young Player of the Year award and was also included in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.
