Liverpool make decision over Curtis Jones future amid interest

Liverpool don't intend to send Curtis Jones out on loan next season with Jurgen Klopp looking to include the youngster in his first-team plans.

Jones, who was given his debut in January 2019, has impressed this season when called upon for the senior side.

The 19-year-old has made eight appearances and was afforded his Premier League bow as a late substitute in the win at Bournemouth in December.

He has scored twice in the FA Cup, including a famous winner in the third round tie against neighbours Everton at Anfield in January.

Jones has also been outstanding for the under-23s and was Liverpool's best player in the UEFA Youth League.

Championship side Blackburn Rovers are one of several clubs keen to take the teenager on a temporary basis next season.

However, a report in The Times highlights Klopp's decision to plan for Jones as part of the first-team squad.

Fellow midfielder Adam Lallana is likely to leave the Reds when his contract expires at the end of the campaign while Xherdan Shaqiri is expected to be sold.

Liverpool have used the loan system to give many of their younger players experience this season, most notably Harry Wilson at Premier League rivals Bournemouth and Rhian Brewster at Championship promotion hopefuls Swansea City.
