Liverpool 'make contact with Brazilian wonderkid' over potential transfer

Liverpool have reportedly made contact with young Brazilian striker Evanilson.

The Fluminese striker was the top scorer in Brazil's under-20 league last season, and had a short loan spell at Slovakian club Samorin, where he scored three goals in six appearances.

His goalscoring form has alerted Liverpool, who have been monitoring Evanilson and have made contact with his representatives, according to Brazilian outlet Netflu .

The 20-year-old's contract expires in February 2020, so Fluminese could be prepared to sell for around £4million rather than lose him for nothing next year.

Brazilian football journalist Robbie Blakely told Football Whispers : "Fluminense are cash-strapped so even if a bid was something like £4million, a relative pittance for a Premier League club, that converts into roughly 21 million reais, a fortune for the club in their current predicament.

"Brazilian teams love selling to the Premier League, and China, but not just because of the money on offer. The exposure they receive benefits them in the long run."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said the Reds will sign a striker in the January transfer window if Rhian Brewster goes out on loan.

Aston Villa and Swansea are reported to be interested in Brewster - but a loan move for the 19-year-old striker would leave a gap in Liverpool's squad.

And asked if he would sign more attacking cover in such an event, Klopp told the Liverpool Echo : "Yes, we have to see. We can't just give the boys [away] on loan because we have built this squad.

"We have three long-term injuries and four with Paul Glatzel, two of them were pre-season. Two came later with Joel [Matip] and Fabinho.

"That gives us a 16-player squad and I count the kids, but we cannot only give players on loan and think it is good for him, we always have to consider both situations, the boys' and ours."
