Liverpool make change to home kit for Premier League clash with Man City

Liverpool will be wearing a slightly different kit when they host Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten so far this season and have only dropped points against Chelsea and Brentford in the Premier League.

They will still be donning their usual red home shirts, but there will be a change to the sponsor logo, as the Daily Star reports.

Banking and financial service Standard Chartered have been Liverpool’s main sponsor since 2010.

Their partnership with the Reds will carry on until at least 2023, making it the second-longest sponsorship deal in the club’s history.

Each season both parties team up to swap the regular shirt logo to promote a charitable initiative, Futuremakers by Standard Chartered.

Liverpool FC Women will also do the same this year in their game against Aston Villa Women on October 13.

The programme aims to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion for young people.

It focuses on education, employability and entrepreneurship, with a target of €75million (£55m) set to fundraise and donate between 2019 and 2023.

After this week’s set of fixtures, players will sign the limited-edition shirts, for them to be put up for auction between October 5 and 24.

All proceeds raise will be matched by Liverpool’s main sponsor and will go to Futuremakers by Standard Chartered.

This is not the first time the club have promoted this campaign, with the charity highlighted a games against Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur over the past few seasons.

Prior to that, they had also backed Seeing is Believing, which is another initiative by Standard Chartered, and attempts to tackle avoidable blindness.

Manchester City head to Merseyside on the back of a 2-0 Champions League defeat against PSG.

Despite this, they will not be lacking any confidence after overcoming fellow league rivals Chelsea last Saturday, with a 0-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
