Liverpool make Arsenal swoop to bolster Jurgen Klopp's backroom staff

Arsenal head of physiotherapy Chris Morgan will rejoin Liverpool's backroom staff ahead of next season.

Morgan spent 10 years at Anfield before leaving in 2016, having worked his way up from reserve team physiotherapist to become the club’s head of physiotherapy.

He since had spells with the Football Association, LA Galaxy and Crystal Palace before moving to Arsenal two years ago.

Liverpool have known for some time that Christopher Rohrbeck, a member of the first-team physio staff, would be returning to Germany at the end of the current campaign.

And now Morgan has agreed to swap the Emirates for Anfield to bolster Jurgen Klopp's backroom staff for next season.

Morgan was popular among the playing staff during his previous time at the club having forged a good relationship with skipper Jordan Henderson and vice-captain James Milner. He was also close to Anfield legend Steven Gerrard.

The departing Rohrbeck joined Liverpool in 2017 after spending 14 years with Mainz, where he first worked with Klopp.

Liverpool had also hoped to take club doctor Gary O'Driscoll from Arsenal to replace the departed Andy Massey, only for the medic to ultimately choose to stay at the Emirates.

Academy doctor Jim Moxon has since stepped up to first-team duties and may now continue permanently in the role.
