Liverpool look to beat Premier League rivals to signing of teenage wonderkid

Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Joao Pedro - despite the Fluminense teenager already agreeing to join Watford .

The Hornets confirmed in October that the young striker, 17, will arrive at Vicarage Road in January next year on a five-year contract once he has turned 18.

The Vicarage Road outfit have forked out an initial €2.5million for the player, and will pay a further €7.5m in bonuses if specific causes are triggered.

However, there is an unusual clause in the pre-contract agreement that could see the talented forward opt for a move elsewhere instead.

According to Globo Esporte , Fluminense have an option to call an end to the agreed transfer - but this would come at a cost.

It is call a ‘disruption clause’, but if this is activated then the Brazilian club would have to pay a €20million fee to the Premier League side.

And there is a likelihood that the could indeed become a reality, with Pedro’s recent form alerting the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The starlet has netted seven goals in his first 10 appearances as a professional, and Liverpool are believed to have made their interest known to Fluminense.

The club may be willing to do a deal with the Reds if they offer a substantial amount, though they would obviously have to consider the €20m owed to Watford.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is known to be looking for a new striker to bolster his ranks, with Daniel Sturridge set to leave at the end of the season.
