Liverpool lodge special request to move into Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium this summer

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur both made it through to the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday but may have even more things in common come July.

That's because Liverpool have reportedly made a request to play at least one home match at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs finally played their first game at their ground, built on the site of White Hart Lane, earlier this month following delays in construction and safety sign offs.

Judging by their record back on their local turf, it was worth the wait with Tottenham winning all three of their first three games at the venue, scoring seven goals and conceding none.

When Spurs' match at Bournemouth could potentially be rearranged for ahead of Ajax second leg

Manchester City were one of the teams to be beaten at the new Spurs stadium in the first leg of a Champions League tie that Mauricio Pochettino's side won on away goals following a 4-3 thriller at the Etihad Stadium.

The stadium was already set to host other sports teams aftera  deal with signed to bring NFL games to Tottenham.

Spurs will welcome the the Chicago Bears and the Oakland Raiders to play on their pitch on October 6.

But it looks as though Liverpool could also stage a friendly match at the stadium in late July, with Napoli expected to be their opponents this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Jurgen Klopp's side are searching for a venue as the pitch at Anfield won't be ready until August due to three concerts, with Take That, Bon Jovi and Pink all making the trip to Merseyside.

Liverpool are reportedly in discussions with Spurs about hosting a fixture in the capital at the 62,062-seater stadium, which dwarfs the 54,074-seater Anfield.

Tottenham have been approached for comment.
