Liverpool local elections 2019: Who is fighting for your vote?

These are the Liverpool Council candidates you can vote for at next month’s crucial local elections .

The list has been revealed ahead of the poll on May 2, when residents will vote for one third of Liverpool's 90 councillors.

Last year saw labour lose key seats to the Liberal Democrats - including a crucial cabinet member.

The former ruling party of Liverpool  toppled respected Labour cabinet member Frank Hont with a thumping win in Childwall for Carole Storey, the wife of former council leader Mike Storey.

The Labour/Labour and Co-operative Party now hold 75 seats, while the Lib Dems hold eight seats, the Green Party hold four seats, the Liberal Party have two seats there is one independent, (Everton councillor Frank Prendergast).

The Lib Dems, who led the council until 2008, are hoping to make an even bigger comeback this year, with leader Richard Kemp boldly promising to  'take Liverpool back to national and international glory' with his team of 30 candidates.

THe Greens and Conservatives will also be contesting all 30 seats, while the Liberal Party have put forward 22 candidates and UKIP have put forward three.
