Liverpool line ups vs Manchester City - Naby Keita decision made as Jurgen Klopp interesting opportunity

Liverpool can go for broke as champions

Paul Gorst: So then, Liverpool's first-ever game as Premier League champions.

How does Jurgen Klopp play this one?

The Reds boss insists he doesn't feel the need to "make a statement" but with nothing left to play for but that points record, why wouldn't the champions go for broke?

In goal, Alisson Becker remains between the sticks with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson completing the back five.

The squad have had eight days off and some time to celebrate after being marked as champions, but they will be well rested for this one, so my midfield three is captain Jordan Henderson, an in-form Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum.

The front three is as you would expect. This one should be a cracker with the pressure off.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Chance for Klopp to play Keita with no handbrake

Sean Bradbury: With City's sparkling attack dulled slightly by the absence of Sergio Aguero plus Fernandinho absent through suspension, this is an opportunity for Klopp to fully release the handbrake.

Liverpool are already Premier League champions. The pressure is totally off at the Etihad tonight.

Granted, the Reds will still be aiming to keep the points rolling in to try and break records.

But they will also want to lay down a marker for next season at this early stage. What better way to do so than going for the throat from the outset?

So it is in midfield where I would roll the dice a little bit. Naby Keita gets the nod to try and surge towards the City back line and expose gaps. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson join him in the centre.

The defence picks itself in the absence of Joel Matip, with Virgil van Dijk accompanied by Joe Gomez and the usual suspects on the flanks.

Likewise up top where there are no anticipated surprises.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Liverpool team picks itself for City

Peter Harris: Following the demolition of Crystal Palace, a team to face City picks itself.

Even with the title wrapped up, a wounded Pep Guardiola side is not the time to experiment or get sentimental with lineup choices.

Last time out at Anfield against Roy Hodgson's men, the defence was solid and threatening, the midfield robust yet creative and the front three of Salah, Firmino and Mane were as formidable as everyone has described them as all season. City will be starving to not only put the loss to Chelsea behind them but prove a point against the new champions.

This means Klopp needs his best side - and that was the eleven that started against Palace.

With no fresh injury concerns after Matip was ruled out for the rest of the season, we should expect to see the same team again. If Palace was a chance to show Liverpool are the true champions this season, this game is an opportunity to put down a marker that the achievement could be repeated again next year.

There's still enough time to allow youngsters Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and even recent debutant Neco Williams enough games to secure a Premier League medal. Hopefully Klopp ensures that happens even if that's just through substitute appearances.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Mane, Salah, Firmino.
