Liverpool line-ups for Burnley as James Milner decision made and Xherdan Shaqiri may have role

'Wijnaldum recalled as Reds go as strong as possible'

Paul Gorst: The final-day permutations may be enough to give you a headache but they won’t come properly into play if Liverpool don’t win tonight.

And given the way this season has gone, you would be naive to rule out a late sting in the tail.

So Jurgen Klopp will have to go as strong as possible tonight and hope 10,000 fans can more than play their part on Sunday at home to Crystal Palace.

In goal, it’s the Liverpool’s best new target man, Alisson Becker.

The in-form Trent Alexander-Arnold continues on the right with Andy Robertson on the left. The issue is still the lack of centre-backs so Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams will again be named at the back.

This week’s Wednesday-Sunday schedule should offer enough of a gap between games for sufficient rest, so I’m recalling Gini Wijnaldum for Curtis Jones.

Options are also thinning up top too, so it’s the same front three as Sunday at West Brom with Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi in reserve. Hopefully Diogo Jota’s “tiny chance” for Sunday increases as week progresses.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, R Williams, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

'Milner in for some much-needed nous'

Ian Doyle: Forget all the ifs, buts and do-you-mind-if-I-don'ts.

All that matters for Liverpool this evening is that they beat Burnley to move into the top four.

They can worry about the final-day permutations once they have got this game out of the way.

Not that it will be easy. And not that Jurgen Klopp has much scope for change.

In fact, there's only one area of the team where he can realistically consider rotation - midfield.

James Milner must come in if he's available, his nous much-needed against a Burnley side who would love to annoy the Reds.

Curtis Jones is the one to make way, with he, Gini Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at least offering some genuine options from the bench if things don't go to plan.

Everybody else is the same.

Nearly there, folks.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, R Williams, Robertson; Fabinho, Milner, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

'Wijnaldum in and the rest picks itself'

Sean Bradbury: Reds great Jim Beglin jokingly tweeted this afternoon that it could be Alisson, Adrian and Kelleher up front against Burnley.

As tempting as it is to go with that dangerous trio, it is a simple selection for me tonight.

The backline picks itself in the continued absence of Ozan Kabak and others.

Gini Wijnaldum returns to the midfield in place of Curtis Jones.

And the usual suspects take their positions in attack.

I quite fancy Xherdan Shaqiri for a cameo role from the bench this evening too.

Hopefully no goalkeepers are required to foray forward and save the day this time...

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, R Williams, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
