Liverpool line-ups as Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate decisions made for Burnley

Ian Doyle - 'Midfield also sees a shake-up'

Burnley. It’ll be cold and it’ll probably be wet as well.

And it’ll most definitely be a tough old afternoon for Liverpool.

So the team Jurgen Klopp picks is going to have to steel itself for a real battle.

However, there’s also the Champions League trip to Inter Milan on the horizon. And the win over Leicester City was less than three days ago.

It would be daft, then, not to utilise the fact there is a full-strength squad from which to choose.

One change in defence, where Ibrahima Konate can replace Joel Matip to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back. Alisson Becker remains in goal with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson the full-backs.

Midfield also sees a shake-up. Fabinho can stay, but skipper Jordan Henderson is back and he can be joined by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Up top, Mohamed Salah returns with Diogo Jota shifting to the left and Roberto Firmino down the middle.

That bench looks pretty tasty, too.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Jota.

Tom Cavilla - ' The attack is where things get interesting'

With Inter Milan on the horizon, it will be interesting to see which side Jurgen Klopp opts for this afternoon.

One would expect Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk to be selected, but there's every chance that Joel Matip and Andy Robertson could be rested. Klopp may well select Ibrahima Konate ahead of Matip, but I would give Robertson the nod over Kostas Tsimikas on this occasion.

In midfield, there could be a return for captain Jordan Henderson after missing out on Thursday's win over Leicester. Alongside the skipper, the ever-reliable duo of Fabinho and Thiago can be called upon once more.

The attack is where things get interesting.

*PICK THE LIVERPOOL TEAM TO TAKE ON BURNLEY:

Does Luis Diaz start again for Liverpool? Will Sadio Mane be thrown straight in after his AFCON return? Will Mohamed Salah be rested ahead of Wednesday night?

It seems likely that Mane will be introduced as a substitute as opposed to featuring from the get-go, meanwhile Diogo Jota will be eager to continue his scoring run.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Diaz, Firmino, Jota.

Charlotte Coates - ' Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota will keep their places'

It's that time again. Liverpool need to win to close the gap after Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League.

City's 4-0 victory at Norwich on Saturday evening means Liverpool start today 12 points adrift, albeit with two games in hand.

Anything less than three points for the Reds at Turf Moor this afternoon against the Premier League's bottom club will not suffice.

Alisson Becker will start in goal for Liverpool.

The back-four will be Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

Fabinho will start in the number six role with Jordan Henderson returning to the side alongside Naby Keita.

Mohamed Salah will make his first start since leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations but Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota will keep their places in the front three.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Keita; Salah, Jota, Diaz.
