Liverpool line up v Southampton confirmed with Adrian starting as Jurgen Klopp makes big midfield changes including Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Adrian has been passed fit to play as Jurgen Klopp again rings the changes for Liverpool's Premier League clash at Southampton this afternoon.

There are three alterations from the team that started the UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea in Istanbul on Wednesday.

But the chief relief for the Reds is the availability of Adrian, who was a doubt after suffering a swollen ankle when on the receiving end of an accidental slide tackle from a fan during the post-match celebrations in midweek.

Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to the defence in place of Joe Gomez at right-back, with Joel Matip continuing at centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk. Andy Robertson is at left-back.

In midfield, both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have been benched, with Gini Wijnaldum joining James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – making his first Premier League start since April 14 2018 – in the engine room.

Up front, Roberto Firmino is recalled to the XI to form the regular front three alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for the first time this season.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Subs: Lonergan, Gomez, Fabinho, Henderson, Lallana, Shaqiri, Origi.
