Liverpool starting line up for Champions League final vs Tottenham as Jurgen Klopp makes key midfield decision

Roberto Firmino starts for Liverpool in their Champions League final showdown with Tottenham at Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano - as the line up is announced.

The Brazil striker has been passed fully fit for duty after recovering from a groin injury.

It will be Firmino's first start since the Premier League win at Cardiff City on April 21 having sat out the previous three matches since aggravating the problem in the first leg of the semi-final in the Nou Camp.

Gini Wijnaldum has got the nod to start in midfield ahead of James Milner, who has to settle for a place on the bench. Netherlands international Wijnaldum and captain Jordan Henderson will operate just ahead of Fabinho.

As expected, Joel Matip is rewarded for his outstanding form as he keeps his place alongside Virgil van Dijk. They will have full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson either side of them.

Firmino will lead the line in Klopp's 4-3-3 formation with Sadio Mane on the left and Mohamed Salah on the other flank.

For Tottenham, after two months out with an ankle injury with semi-final hat-trick hero Lucas Moura dropping to the bench.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Kelleher, Lovren, Gomez, Moreno, Milner, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Origi, Brewster, Sturridge
