Liverpool line up confirmed for Bournemouth as Jurgen Klopp explains Andy Robertson absence

James Milner captains Liverpool from left-back as the Reds entertain Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime.

Andy Robertson misses out altogether with Milner alongside Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the back four.

It is Milner's first start since limping out of the 1-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup on January 5.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returns to the midfield three alongside Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho with Sadio Mane up front with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

As anticipated, Adrian starts in place of Alisson Becker who misses out with a hip injury.

Robertson misses out as a precaution with the Reds entertaining Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Klopp told BT Sport: “He would have started today but then he felt [something] slightly. But it’s all good, it will be fine for Wednesday. But not for today.

“So we didn’t want to have him on the bench and see Robbo and think, ‘Maybe we can bring you [on].’ It wouldn’t make sense today. That’s the reason and he will be fine.”

Victory for Liverpool against the visiting Cherries puts the Reds within nine points of a first league title for 30 years.

Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Milner; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Subs: Lonergan, Matip, Williams, Keita, Lallana, Minamino, Origi.
