Liverpool line up bid for 'next Luka Modric' as Inter Milan transfer battle emerges

Liverpool are preparing to take on Benfica in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, after producing an end-to-end draw with Manchester City at the weekend.

The result at the Etihad means the Reds remain a point behind City in the league table, while Jurgen Klopp ’s side have a two goal cushion against Benfica after their 3-1 win in Portugal. With the club also facing an FA Cup semi-final later this week, the Liverpool boss will have to carefully manage his squad as they enter another important week in the season.

Though major honours still remain in the balance, Liverpool have continued to be linked with new signings as the summer transfer window edges nearer. Here is a round-up of the latest transfer reports surrounding the Reds.

The Red Bull Salzburg midfielder has been touted as the “next Luka Modric” in Croatia. Sucic made his international debut earlier this season after impressing with his performances in the Austrian Bundesliga.

HITC have reported, via Bild, that Liverpool “could make a move” to sign the 19-year-old. Though the Reds would supposedly face a battle for his signature with Juventus and AC Milan also interested in the teenager.

The report highlights that Liverpool have previously signed several players from Red Bull associated clubs, including Sadio Mane and Ibrahima Konate. However, HITC suggest that a move for Sucic would come as a surprise, following the reported deals to also bring Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho and Celtic youngster Ben Doak to the club.

Liverpool are claimed to be “lining up” a bid for Torino defender Gleison Bremer, which could have implications for Joe Gomez . According to reports in Italy, the Reds are preparing a £25m bid for the centre-back in the summer.

The Express reports, via Tuttomercato, that Liverpool’s interest in Bremer could lead Gomez to leave Anfield. It is suggested that Leicester, Tottenham and Fulham have been linked with the England international.

However, the Reds would supposedly face competition to sign Bremer, whose current deal runs until 2025. Inter Milan are said to be “at the front of the queue” to sign the 25-year-old after his displays in Serie A.

Liverpool striker Divock Origi is reportedly “increasingly close” to signing for AC Milan this summer. The Belgian forward’s contract with the Reds is set to expire at the end of this season and he is claimed to be nearing a move to Serie A.

The Transfer Tavern, via Sport Witness, reports that Milan’s board have “given the green light” for the move for Origi to go ahead. After being continuously linked with a move away , it is suggested that his move to the San Siro is almost complete.

Origi signed for Liverpool from Lille in 2014 and has scored some famous goals in his time with the Reds, including in a Champions League final. However, his game time this season has largely been restricted to cup competitions due to the attacking options available to Jurgen Klopp.
