Liverpool likely XI for Everton clash as star names return following Villa drubbing

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to welcome back some of his biggest names for the Merseyside derby, and his team could end up having a familiar look to it.

After Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane all ended up missing the 7-2 hammering at Aston Villa, the trio will certainly be back in the squad at Goodison Park, but whether all three start remains to be seen.

Henderson and Mane are certain to come back into the team, but Thiago may start on the bench with a view to his first Liverpool start coming in Wednesday's Champions League trip to face Ajax in Amsterdam.

Adrian will start in goal despite coming under fire for his error which lead to Ollie Watkins' opener for Villa, with Alisson still on the sidelines with a shoulder issue.

Klopp has confirmed that the Brazilian is making good progress from the injury, but it will be the ex-West Ham Adrian who starts at Goodison with Caoimhin Keller as his deputy.

The back four are likely to be same quartet who started the Villa game, although Joel Matip has returned to full training this week.

The centre-back's last appearance came in last season's goalless Goodison derby in June, and he could challenge Joe Gomez for a starting spot after the England defender's nightmare against Villa.

Klopp is likely to go for a solid midfield three after that area of the pitch was overrun against Villa.

Henderson will start, with Fabinho also set to retain his place in the side and Gini Wijnaldum likely to make up the trio.

Naby Keita is out, and Thiago could make an impact off the bench if needed.

Neither Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane were on international duty in the past week and so will be fresh, with Roberto Firmino's two goals for Brazil perhaps seeing him edge out Takumi Minamino to start in attack.

Likely Liverpool XI: Adrian;Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane.
